Construction Company Generates Leads with Direct Mail

Challenge: To generate leads for a new housing development.

A construction company needed to devise an effective to strategy, not only to generate leads for a new housing development, but also to execute a strong follow-up plan. The company had a strong sales support staff for the project yet they had struggled in the past with advancing contacts to buy homes. After all, it’s a weighty purchase decision that cannot be forced.

Solution: Distribute plans for the new housing development via direct mail.

After the salespeople had meetings with prospects, they narrowed it down to 200 strong leads to follow up within two weeks. Promotional specialists recommended to send a desk caddy with 4-color process photo insert of the plans for the new housing development. The direct mail campaign would target the prospects in attendance at the first open house for the new models. Also enclosed with the caddy, the company sent an update of available properties to encourage the clients to study the details of model homes.

Result: The desk caddy made a great impression on potential buyers!

The potential home owners were surprised to receive such a thoughtful and creative display of the homes. It proved to be a method to invite leading prospects to return and discuss the possibilities of making the investment to purchase. More than 20 percent of the packages sent converted to individual appointments with the company’s sales representatives, helping each associate build strong rapports with their clients.

Promo Mug Keeps Highway Workers on "Orange Alert"

A county road construction crew each received a new bright orange twister mug printed with the simple reminder “BE VISIBLE – wear your safety vest!” The reminder followed a near accident where the workman had removed his vest as he was walking along the road shoulder back to his vehicle at the end of the day. The light was dimming and without his vest a frighteningly close call was barely avoided. They wanted to be sure that the workers didn’t forget the basics.orange-mug.jpg

Shaving Accessories Bags Promote Employee Safety

Challenge: Promoting Safety to Employees in Multiple Locations
A large construction company was looking for a product that would promote safety among their employees. With nearly 10,000 workers dispersed across 30 states, the company needed a product that was both functional and unique. Utilizing safe work practices at every job site was extremely important to the company, and they wanted to make sure that this message was properly conveyed to all of their employees.

Solution: Award Program Encourages On-The-Job Safety
The company created an award program consisting of quarterly campaigns featuring pre-established safety criteria. Because many of the construction workers were required to travel to out-of-town job sites, the company decided to reward the winners of the campaign with shaving accessory bags. The bags were multi-functional, and could hold things other than shaving supplies for their employees. The bags were embroidered with the company's slogan, and contained a promotional sticker for them to display on their hardhats.

Result: Record-breaking drop in company-recorded accidents!
During the three-year campaign period, company-recorded accidents dropped from 201 to 47. The employees greatly enjoyed their bags and were so focused on meeting their goals, that the company had to place a re-order for more bags for the next quarter! Awards for other quarterly campaigns included promotional sweatshirts and belt buckles with matching hard-hat stickers to add to the winner's collection.
