Non-Profit Raises SIDS Awareness Through New Promotional Campaign

Challenge: How to upgrade an already existing promotion for an awareness campaign to make it more effective and successful.
A non-profit organization whose mission it is to raise awareness for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) needed a way to better market their annual fundraising day. They were currently using red plastic clown-type noses, as the idea is to promote awareness through smiles and fun, yet many people found the noses uncomfortable and would take them off.

Solution: Upgrade the plastic noses and add more promotional items.
To solve the problem of the uncomfortable plastic nose, it was switched for an easy-to-wear foam nose. To add to the campaign, items such as imprinted pins, pens, coffee mugs and apparel were used. Even a stuffed version of the promotional mascot was created. All of these items were things that would not be as easily thrown away as a plastic nose, which means that the non-profit can continue to market itself long after the sun sets on the fundraising day.

Result: Sales for the non-profit increase dramatically.
As expected, the use of multiple promotional items helped the company immensely. Online sales, weekly sales and donations all increased past what was expected and topped all figures from previous years.
